The first cooperative preschool in Georgia

Parent Involvement

The cooperative nature of IPCP is central to its success. Inman Park was the first parent-owned and operated cooperative preschool in Georgia. It's been called "The School That Parents Built" and the commitment and enthusiasm of each family is what makes the school a vital and growing operation. Each family participates in the following ways:

  • Working at the preschool as a parent teacher approximately one morning each month helping children learn and experiencing first-hand their children’s world.
  • Participating actively on one of IPCP’s committees.
  • Investing their sweat equity through three work days each year.
  • Working on at least one fundraising project per year as part of the annual auction.

IPCP is a non-profit organization comprised of all parents or guardians of children attending the preschool.
At an annual meeting, the parent body elects a board of directors that includes officers, committee heads, and members-at-large. Monthly board meetings are open to all parents.
